Looking after your pet in l'Alfàs del Pi

Between Benidorm and Altea, l'Alfàs del Pi and l'Albir are known for their large Norwegian community and for the Serra Gelada Natural Park next to the town. For off-lead time there are council dog parks on Calle Tritó, Calle Saturno and at Jardín de Alfaz, each with a two-height drinking fountain, bins and a poo-bag dispenser. Leishmaniosis is common on the Mediterranean coast, so use repellents, ask about vaccination and test every year.

Note that dogs are not allowed on l'Albir beach. In the Valencian Community, dogs, cats and ferrets must be vaccinated against rabies and dewormed against echinococcosis at least yearly; the identification register is RIVIA, run by the Valencian Council of Veterinary Colleges. As pet insurance in l'Alfàs del Pi, Petplan lets you use any vet practice in the town or in L'Albir: pay the bill and get 100% of covered costs back, minus a fixed €45 co-pay.
