In order to provide you with an accurate quote, we need to know the breed of your pet.
If you have any doubt, enter the breed shown in the Health Certificate or Passport
Pure Breed, if both parents are of the same breed, enter that breed.
Crossbreed, if parents are two different breeds, select the breed that most resembles the predominant one.
Mixed breed, the parents are of three or more different breeds.

Yes! When making the hiring process from the English version, you will receive all the documentation in English. If you have hired it in Spanish and you want to have it in English, ask for it and we will send it to you.

Older pets, like people, are more prone to suffer from diseases, therefore the cost of their insurance is higher.

Questions about the Policy

Petplan provides full coverage that pays you the cost of vet bills after an injury or illness, including chronic and hereditary conditions. You are paid up to € 3.100, with a reimburse of 100% of the vet bills and prescription drugs. It also covers physiotherapy treatments for rehabilitation and treatment of behavior disorders. It also compensates you for various reasons such as the death, sacrifice, theft, loss of your pet, or stay in a pet residence.

Yes! Petplan allows you to go to the vet that you decide.

Petplan is the commercial name of Petplan Ibérica, S.L. that sells these insurance as Insurance Brokerage. Telefonica Seguros provides and subscribes the policy. Petplan Ibérica SL is registered in Spain and registered and authorized in the General Directorate of Insurance and Pension Fund with the key J-3.103 and with the CIF: B-90.057.431.

Yes! Petplan will pay for the medications prescribed by your veterinarian after an accident or illness.

This is any injury that happened, or illness that began, before your pet’s cover began. Pre-existing conditions are not covered.

Copayment means that in each loss, we will not reimburse you for the first 45 € of the total of the corresponding compensation. These € 45 copay only applies once for each illness or accident, even if you go several times to the vet, and send us several bills.

No, Petplan does not cover routine or preventive visits, such as vaccines, deworming, dental cleaning. It also does not cover microchipping, sterilization or castration. Our insurance is designed to protect you from unexpected expenses after an accident or illness. Routine expenses are not unexpected and you can plan them.

Petplan, covers physiotherapy for rehabilitation after an accident or illness. But it does not cover another series of alternative treatments such as hydrotherapy, acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic manipulation, osteopathy or any other complementary or alternative treatment.

Yes! The alteration of the normal behavior of your pet caused by a mental or emotional disorder that could not be prevented with training and / or sterilization / castration and when prescribed by a veterinarian and administered by a member of a veterinary clinic.

Yes! Even if your dog or cat has been sick or has suffered some damage by accident, you can take out insurance to protect it. During the online recruitment process, we will ask you about your pet’s health, and you will have to inform us of any condition, damage or illness that you have had. And like any other insurance, Petplan unfortunately will not be covered by pre-existing conditions.

Yes! When your cat or dog reaches age 7, the policy will remain in effect, and will remain in effect during the pet’s life. Subject to renewal policy. Once your pet is insured with Petplan, as long as you renew your cover each year without a break, we will continue to pay claims for ongoing conditions.

Yes! For 14 days after the issuance of the policy, you can cancel it and we will refund the amount paid, as long as you have not processed a claim

For your peace of mind, we will automatically renew your policy so you do not have to worry about it. We will write you, at least 60 days before the policy expires with all the data of your premium and the conditions of the policy for the following year. At the time of the renewal the premium/quote can be changed as well as the co-payments, it can also include exclusions or modify the General and Particular Conditions of the Policy. If you do not want to renew this policy, just let us know at least 30 days before it expires. We also have the right not to renew your policy, in which case we will notify you at least 60 days in advance.

You can modify your personal data or payment of the policy from your customer area https://petplan.es/seguroperros/area-personal/ access with your e-mail and password, click on the button Modify Data or Modify Policy.

You can cancel your Petplan policy at any time, request it in writing form from the customer area. If you cancel the policy in the first 14 days from the contract, we will refund the full amount of the premium, provided that you have not processed any loss. After that 14 days period,  you will not receive a refund of your premium.

About claim

Our goal is to eliminate the burden of paper and its ecological cost, so claims are processed through our website or smartphone. Access your Client Area from with your e-mail and password, click on the New Claim button and tell us what happened.

Once the claim is verified and you have accepted it you will receive the money by bank transfer. It will need at least 48 hours. Our objective is to process claims as quickly as possible. For this, it is important that you provide us with all the required documentation. You can track the process from your client area.

You have 12 months from the point of the illness or injury taking place in which to submit a claim, this will be based on the start date of the treatment.

No. You can go to the vet you choose and apply the treatment for the recommended one.

No, at Petplan there’s no penalty for making a claim – and we’ll never increase your premium as a result of making a claim. Your quote will only go up according to the IPC or for reasons that affect all dogs of your breed.

You must take reasonable steps to maintain your pet’s health throughout the policy year and to prevent injury, illness and loss. Therefore you must arrange and pay for your pet to have an annual dental examination by a vet in order to prevent illness or injury. By continuing with these check-ups this shows us that you have played your part in caring for your pet, so we can play ours.

Each illness will be covered for 12 months, since the injury happened or the first symptoms of the disease were noted, as long as the current policy is maintained.
