How much does Petplan cover?
Petplan Spain reimburses 100% of the invoice up to €3,100 a year, with a €45 co-payment per illness or accident, at the vet of your choice. It does not cover pre-existing conditions or preventive care, and there are waiting periods of 15 days for accidents and 30 days for illness.
The health policy covers the consultation, the diagnostic tests, the surgery and the hospitalisation when the vet confirms the admission is needed for the basic treatment. Left out are pre-existing conditions, routine visits and preventive medicine, sterilisation or castration unless it is essential to treat an injury or illness, dental treatment if a vet did not carry out a dental examination in the previous 12 months, and anything related to breeding, pregnancy and birth. Prostheses are excluded, with the exception of hip, knee or elbow replacement.
