What is a pet microchip?
It is a small transponder, about the size of a grain of rice, that a vet implants under the skin, usually on the left side of the neck. It does not have a battery and it does not track your pet: it simply stores a unique number. When a vet, a shelter or the authorities pass a scanner over the animal, that number appears, and it links to your details in the identification register.
