Looking after your pet in Valencia

Farmland, beaches and a mild climate mean you can walk your dog all year in Valencia province, avoiding the midday heat in summer. In the city, the Pinedo beach dog zone opens only from roughly mid-June to September, in a marked enclosure with dogs on a lead. There are also dog beaches at Alboraya, El Puig and l'Ahuir in Gandia.

Your pet should be on the RIVIA register, with rabies vaccination and echinococcosis worming at least yearly. ICOVV has a clinic finder, and the UCV veterinary hospital of the Catholic University of Valencia handles emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Outside summer, dogs cannot go on the beach in Valencia city. With pet insurance in Valencia from Petplan you can visit any vet practice in València, Torrent or Gandia: pay the bill and get 100% of covered costs back, minus a fixed €45 co-pay.
