The Miniature American Shepherd was developed in the United States from the 1960s onwards by selecting small Australian Shepherds in California. It was initially known as the “Miniature Australian Shepherd” and was recognised by the AKC in 2015 under its current name. It keeps the herding instinct and intelligence of the original breed in a more manageable size.
