An American scent hound from Louisiana, bred to hunt raccoons, a role it still performs. It comes from the French Grand Bleu de Gascogne, as well as the English Foxhound, the Cur, the American Foxhound and the Virginia Black and Tan Foxhound. Its characteristic blue-mottled coat gives it its name. It is sweet and sociable by nature, with lots of energy and a powerful nose.
