Origin and history of the Blue Picardy Spaniel
A pointing spaniel from France, from the area around the mouth of the River Somme, which emerged in the early 20th century. It arose from crossing the Picardy Spaniel with English and Gordon Setters carrying the characteristic blue ticking, and was recognised as a separate breed in France in 1938. It is reputed to be one of the most agreeable gundogs and is especially good with children.
