A scent hound developed in Norway by Captain and author Wilhelm Conrad Dunker, who crossed the Russian Harlequin Hound with Norwegian hounds to create a dog able to work in the country’s harsh conditions. With a fine nose and a gentle character, it is tolerant of strangers (so it is not a notable guard dog) and enjoys the company of other dogs.
