A traditional herding dog from the historic region of León, in north-western Spain, specialised in guiding and controlling flocks of Churra sheep, as well as cattle and horses. It was added to the Official Catalogue of Livestock Breeds of Spain in 2016 and the Junta de Castilla y León published its standard in 2018. It is hardy, versatile and a very quick learner.
