€279 a year with Petplan versus €639 with SantéVet Premium for the same puppy. SantéVet also charges €11.90 to sign up and €1 a month in admin fees from the second renewal.

03

Breed conditions covered, and older dogs welcome

Petplan covers breed-related conditions such as hip dysplasia or a luxating patella; SantéVet excludes them. And with SantéVet most dogs can only join before they turn 5.

A broken leg

Real case, €2,380 bill: with Petplan you pay €45; with SantéVet Premium, €308.

Hip dysplasia

Common in breeds such as Labradors, German Shepherds or Golden Retrievers. SantéVet excludes it. Petplan covers breed-related conditions.

Your dog is turning 5

With SantéVet, most breeds can no longer take out a policy from the age of 5. With Petplan, dogs can join up to the age of 7.

Your dog needs a lot of care

Petplan does not raise your renewal price because you claimed. SantéVet's insurer can raise the premium at every renewal.

When might SantéVet suit you?

So you can decide with all the facts:

  • If you want a higher annual limit: SantéVet Premium covers up to €5,000 a year, compared with Petplan's €3,100.
  • If you want a shorter waiting period for accidents: 7 days, compared with Petplan's 15.
  • If you want a prevention allowance that can also go towards neutering, a microchip or dental cleaning.

If you want 100% back on every bill, a lower price with no extra fees, and breed-related conditions covered, Petplan protects you better.
