Does Allianz Mascotas pay back my vet bills?
No. It does not reimburse vet bills. With the Cuadro Veterinario option you get access to a network of clinics with discounted prices, but its own product information document (IPID) says these preferential rates are paid by the policyholder: you pay them. Petplan reimburses 100% of the bill with a fixed €45 excess, up to €3,100 a year.
What is Allianz's Cuadro Veterinario?
A network of more than 600 vets and clinics in Spain with preferential rates. It includes the first consultation for each condition at no cost, a 24-hour vet emergency phone line, and vet chat and video consultations. Tests, operations and treatment are paid by you.
How much does each policy cost?
For a Yorkshire Terrier under 1 year old (15 October 2026), Allianz Mascotas with Cuadro Veterinario costs €87.71 a year, with third-party liability extended to the EU and the UK, and pays back nothing on vet bills. Petplan costs €279 a year and pays back 100%.
How much would I pay for a broken leg with each insurer?
On a real €2,380 bill, you pay a €45 excess with Petplan. With Allianz you get nothing back: at your own vet you pay the full €2,380, and in its network you pay its rates plus VAT, with the plate, screws and medication charged on top.
Do the Cuadro Veterinario prices include VAT?
No. Allianz's price list shows amounts without VAT. They also exclude fluids, medication, prostheses, plates and any other material.
What happens in an emergency?
With Allianz, an emergency consultation costs €79 plus VAT, and anything done as an emergency carries a 25% surcharge on the standard rate. With Petplan, we pay back 100% of the bill minus €45.
Can I keep my own vet?
With Allianz, the discounted prices only apply at clinics in its network, and not every service is available at every clinic. With Petplan you can go to any vet.

Third-party liability up to €300,000 per claim, legal defence and damage claims up to €3,000, phone advice and a legal chat. It is mainly a third-party liability policy, which many home insurance policies already include. With Petplan, third-party liability is optional.
